On The Calcasieu

I wrote this during the courtship of my beautiful wife Tracy. She was living north of Lake Charles, LA in a town called Moss Bluff. When I reached the Calcasieu river I knew I was almost there...

On the Calcasieu

Traveling man that’s what I am, back out on the road again
Gotta keep traveling that’s what I’ll do

I’ve been on the road for more than a day and I don’t have a lot to say
Gotta keep traveling that’s what I’ll do till the Calcasieu

Chorus:

Well the Calcasieu is broad and blue and I don’t know what I’m going to do,
‘Cause I am so in love with you.
And it’s hard to get to sleep at night when you’re not there to hold me tight,
Gotta keep travlin that’s what I’ll do till the Calcasieu

Many miles to go and it sure seem slow, but this old car knows the way to go
Gotta keep traveling till I’m with you, on the Calcasieu

Been gone too long and something’s wrong, better keep that radio on
Gotta keep traveling that’s what I’ll do, till the Calcasieu

Chorus:

When I’m feeling low and when I’m feeling blue all I gotta do is think about you
Gotta keep travlin that’s what I’ll do

When you’re in my arms and I hold you close, you give me all your love when I need it the most
Gotta keep traveling till I’m with you on the Calcasieu

Chorus:
